Abstract

In the competitive Nigerian economy, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) face a number of challenges, necessitating empirical evidence on specific strategies for sustainable growth; this study investigated the impact of innovation strategies conceptualised as product innovation and marketing innovation on business growth, measured by market share and customer retention. The study adopted a quantitative survey design, data was collected via a structured questionnaire from a sample of 280 staff, selected through simple random sampling from a population of 1,000, and analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results revealed that product innovation has a significant positive effect on market share and marketing innovation significantly influences customer retention. The study concludes that innovation strategies are critical drivers of competitive advantage for Kam Industries, and recommends the institutionalization of R&D, investment in data-driven marketing tools, the development of an integrated innovation strategy, and continuous capability building to ensure sustainable growth.
