Author Guidelines

The Abuja International Journal of Banking, Finance and Development (AIJBFD) is a double blind journal domiciled in the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Abuja. The journal publishes bi-annually (June and December) in both print and online versions. It welcomes high quality original research manuscripts and review papers across Banking, Finance, Accounting, Development and Sustainability studies, Economics, Business, Entrepreneurship, and related Management and Social Sciences. AIJBFD considers the following:

• Original research articles (conceptual, theoretical, empirical)
• Review articles (systematic, narrative, scoping, integrative, where appropriate)
• Policy and practice papers (where they provide strong scholarly contribution)
• Methodological papers (where they advance methods relevant to the journal scope)

Manuscript Requirements

Manuscript should conform to the following requirement:

1. Font and spacing: Manuscript in English Language must be typed in Times New Roman, 12 point font size, 1.5 line spacing.
2. Referencing style: APA 7th Edition.
3. Abstract: Maximum 250 words.
4. Keywords: Four (4) to Five (5).
5. Length: The entire manuscript, including references, graphs, table and other material should not exceed 20 pages.
6. Submission details must include: author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), email address(es), and the mobile contact number of the corresponding author.

Manuscript Structure and Order

Authors should prepare manuscripts in the following order.

• Full manuscript title
• Full names of all authors
• Affiliations (Department, Institution, City, Country)
• Email addresses of all authors
• Corresponding author’s email and mobile contact number

• Abstract (250 words maximum)
• Keywords (4 to 5)
• Introduction
• Literature review or theoretical framework
• Methodology (or methods)
• Results or findings
• Discussion
• Conclusion and implications
• Recommendations (where appropriate)
• Limitations and future research
• References (APA 7th Edition)
• Appendices (optional, included within the 20-page limit)

Formatting and Style Guide

Language

• Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English.
• Ensure consistent spelling style throughout the manuscript.

Headings

Use a clear heading hierarchy. Keep headings concise and aligned with APA style.

Tables and figures

• Number tables and figures consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1, etc).
• Provide clear titles and sources beneath tables and figures where applicable.
• Ensure all tables and figures are cited in the text.

Citations and references

• Use APA 7th Edition for in text citations and the reference list.
• Ensure every in text citation appears in the reference list and vice versa.

Originality statement

Confirm the manuscript is original, has not been published, and is not under review elsewhere.

Conflict of interest

Declare any financial or non financial conflicts, or state none.

Deadlines for submission

• For the June (mid-year) edition: submit not later than 15th May.
• For the December edition: submit not later than 15th November.
